About the Department
The Enterprise Division comprises four companies: Contracting, Rail, Telecoms and Utilities. The SSE Enterprise Projects and Operational Support Team support the entire Enterprise division leading the deployment of best practice in assurance, project management, engineering and in handling strategic projects.
SSE Enterprise Telecoms operates a 13,700km private telecoms network, with 265 Points of Presence and connectivity to over 80 commercial data centres that span the UK. With its extensive telecoms engineering experience, the company provides commercial security with unrivalled in-house engineering resource to Service Providers, Large Enterprises and the Public Sector providing a competitive range of leading-edge Ethernet, Cloud Connect, Optical Networking and Co-location services.
Due to growth within the Telecoms division, we are currently recruiting for a Commercial Planner who will be responsible for leading all planning aspects of the Commercial team.
This will include establishing team governance that delivers measurables on the Commercial activities as well as supporting on the financial commitments for the team. The role is critical to the overall success of the Commercial team by creating a framework for the team to work towards that mitigates financial risk and maximises cost reduction and process efficiency opportunity.
The role will play a critical role to delivering, driving and reviewing the financial opex management for Telecoms, this will involve partnering with the finance team to ensure forecasts are met as well as ensuring budget assumptions are in line with planned business activity. It is also critical to leverage the financial data for commercial business decisions and this role enables the person undertaking to build out these to deliver insight to the organisation.

Skills and Responsibilities
The ideal candidate must have the ability to understand business concepts and put these in an overall context to deliver a clear measurable outcome.
To be considered for the role you must have P&L and Balance Sheet experience and have demonstrable skill to challenge existing practices and re-engineer with innovative solutions.
You will be a self-motivated and resilient individual with a passion for their role. Furthermore, we need a highly organised and systematic approach who can take ownership of the task in hand.
Duties and responsibilities include:
– Create site P&L budget / quarterly forecasts, demonstrating an understanding of the key drivers, to inform local operational and strategic decision making.
– Identify, challenge and proactively satisfy internal customer requirements to provide information, interpretation and insight to the business and site teams to promote effective delivery of performance.
– Continuously review business practices to make recommendations for changes which will enhance cost efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA qualified or equivalent with prior experience within Finance within corporate environment preferred. You will have the ability to coach others and have the confidence to challenge and influence key stakeholders.
