About the Role

Base Location: Havant, Reading, Thatcham or Perth

Salary: £60,203 – £69,982 and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The DevOps Technical Lead provides leadership and accountability for ensuring the ongoing maintenance, release management activities and developed service improvements to our core applications. They use their knowledge to take a hands-on role to agree and document release schedules, set up pipelines, coordinating changes, releases and deployments in a complex technology landscape, managing integrated environments with high levels of automation.

SSE IT is building its Agile capability and continues to increase the proportion of its delivery which utilises Agile methodology and tools. As a result, it is key the role holder would have Agile experience and demonstrate an interest in championing it across the business.

Roles and Responsibilities;

– Lead and govern the release and change management processes required to implement technical changes to our core applications.

– Ensure the quality of deliverables through robust pre release technical assurance processes.

– Define and provide configuration changes to our core applications as deemed necessary.

– Responsible for agreeing and documenting the Release Schedule for each Application, working with the support teams and wider stakeholders to agree Release schedules and setting up version control.

– Set up and maintenance of Pipelines, supporting Continuous Delivery and overall governance of application releases.

Your skillset for this role will include;

– Good knowledge and solid MS Azure experience. Skill set must include an excellent understanding of the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery process, Devops Repos/Git Hub/Subversion, Azure Resource Groups and PaaS Services (Function Apps, ASE’s APIM).

– Experience from a similar support or development role managing multiple release streams across multiple applications and identifying release dependencies across applications. Background in supporting business critical systems in a medium/large organisation.

– A systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.

– Confidently provide direction to support teams and able to demonstrate technical leadership and governance.

– Great communication skills, in particular: presenting, collaborating and partnering with stakeholders.
