Base Location: Perth
Salary: £97,200 – £145,800 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time with Flexible working patterns available
About the Department
Our Procurement and Commercial team are responsible for helping the business to procure services and materials in a timely and cost-effective way. We work right across the SSE Group, ensuring our businesses gets the best possible service and value from our supplier network, as well as ensuring all service providers are compliant and continue to meet contractual obligations and business need.
What is the Role
Act as a business partner to develop and implement procurement and commercial strategies and taking part in critical decisions that support business objectives and optimise returns whilst protecting the business from commercial risk. Managing, focusing and motivating the embedded procurement and commercial teams to deliver against BU strategic and tactical objectives.
The Head of Procurement & Commercial will perform business critical activities in collaboration with the BU Team. Regular engagement with the Head of Procurement Operations will see you review and analyse:
-business plans and objective
-progress and performance of the wider procurement & commercial team
-and ultimately driving business outcomes.
You will continuously work to strategically improve procedures, standards or policies whilst adhering to regulatory guidelines and advising the BU on flexibility and application. You will demonstrate value creation against the core purpose of the department: value leadership, customer service and innovation.
What do I need?
You will be Degree educated or have an equivalent entry to a recognised professional body, with a strong background in an operational Procurement and Commercial role.
You’ll be able to confidently develop, motivate and manage a diverse team ensuring the emphasis is on creating value across the business. With a focus on continuous improvement, you’ll be adaptable and able to deal with changing objectives and priorities to deliver results.
You should also:-
– Understand the financial aspects and implications of operational requirements and complex capital projects.
– Fully understands the commercial impact of decisions and the implications on procurement process.
– Have detailed knowledge and experience of complex contract structure and documentation.
– Have thorough understanding, knowledge and experience of the processes relating to procurement strategy.
– Advanced experience of supplier development techniques and managing the development of complex supplier relationships.
