What is the Role
Our rapidly growing Distributed Generation & Storage team have created a brand-new role for an experienced Head of Project Development. The role will drive project development to grow revenue and EBIT, focused on the Generation and Storage sector. We bring energy services to the grid and to industrial and commercial customers; which may include technologies such as gas-fired power, CHP, solar PV, battery storage and private wire solutions or a combination of the above.
You will be responsible for leading project development from concept to execution of contracts, working closely with customers and coordinating colleagues from business development, engineering, commercial and delivery. You will develop innovative technical solutions which are effectively procured, delivered and operated to meet our margin and client’s requirements.
– Leading development activity for specific projects through to contract completion, post initial feasibility
– Overseeing planning, permitting, design and commercial workstreams
– Taking projects through internal governance gates
– Supporting the business development team with sales and with growing pipeline
– Coordinating with and ensuring delivery from supporting functions (engineering, commercial, delivery)
– As the Head of Project Development Manager, we are looking for this person to recruit and manage a team of Project Development Managers (PDM) to serve the needs of the business.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role you will have proven lead/head of project development experience in the energy sector; ideally managing complex projects over time with multiple and external stakeholders and in the B2B sector.
You will ideally have an engineering background (although not essential), be an expert in planning and permitting and have excellent relationship skills.
Having managed similar projects; you will have the skill to understand the benefit of bringing client drivers and market intelligence to all propositions in this sector to drive innovation. Prior experience of people management to develop PDM processes across that team is necessary.
You will have good knowledge of the energy and power markets, with knowledge of both distribution networks and power generation/storage solutions.
You will be entrepreneurial, commercial and flexible and bring a track-record of developing strong relationships and developing sophisticated solutions that meet customers’ and stakeholders’ needs. Inquisitive and able to challenge convention; you’ll be adaptable with the ability to engage varied audiences.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with technical concepts in DE solutions and understand engineering systems and performance of energy assets.
