What is the Role?

SSE Enterprise Rail is the specialist rail division of the SSE Group with over 15 years’ experience delivering projects to meet the growing demands of Britain’s rail infrastructure with diverse experience in design, engineering, project, reactive and maintenance works across the UK’s rail network.

We are looking to appoint a Project Manager to join the team based in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, Oxford, Nottingham or Slough.

You’ll oversee Project Management of a variety of projects on the rail network from conception to completion to ensure all safety, quality, technical and commercial requirements are met. You’ll plan, organise, manage and deliver a profitable operational while working in partnership with sales and delivery support to deliver a sustainable and profitable pipeline of works. This will include; engineering support to estimators and bid teams, design development, client management and development, SHE management, project planning and operational delivery, management of on-site teams and finally, contract, financial and cost management for the projects.

What Do I Need?

To be successful in this role, you’ll have strong project management experience with a proven track record in the delivery of single and multi-disciplinary schemes on the Railway infrastructure on projects ranging from £10k – £750k. You’ll ideally have an HNC/D qualification or equivalent in your relevant field, although this is not essential if relevant experience can be demonstrated. We would also be looking for you to have; CRE-C experience, PTS qualifications and CSCS or equivalent is desirable but not essential as training can be undertaken.

You’ll also have excellent project management and communication skills, as well as good client and customer relation skills with the ability to work in a team environment. You’ll have experience of managing operational teams, achieving and setting targets, and be able to apply financial and budgetary controls to maximise profit returns. Finally, you’ll be enthusiastic, innovative and open take on new challenges.

A full UK driving licence is vital for this role as well as a passion for safety and the ability to work well in a team as well as independently.
