Base Location: Havant or Reading
Salary: Circa £63,000 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus
Working Pattern: Permanent Full Time Flexible working patterns available 37 hours per week
About the Department
Our Procurement and Commercial team are responsible for helping the business to procure services and materials in a timely and cost-effective way. We work right across the SSE Group, ensuring our businesses gets the best possible service and value from our supplier network, as well as ensuring all service providers are compliant and continue to meet contractual obligations and business need.
What is the Role
Reporting to the IT Lead Category Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management and administration of contracts with Strategic Suppliers and oversee the management of all contracts in the team to ensure successful delivery in accordance with all internal policies and procedures. These include the Procurement Manual, Commercial Manual and the LCP Governance Framework Manual. You will act as a Commercial advisory to leaders of IT Programmes and projects, facilitate relationships with Suppliers and manage their contractual delivery to ensure the successful outcome across a portfolio of Programmes and Projects. You will also support the delivery of IT and Procurement departmental KPIs and objectives such as savings in total cost of ownership, value engineering and safety and sustainability performance. You will also be required to Manage the performance and workload of two Contract Managers.
What do I need?
With an awareness of the commercial impact of decisions and the implications on procurement processes, you will have knowledge & experience of contract structure and documentation along with knowledge of UK Utilities Contracts Regulations is preferred. In addition, you will be degree educated (or equivalent) to a recognised appropriate professional body, IACCM qualified, or a similar body, is desirable but not essential.
Experience managing a portfolio of 3rd party related spend of £30m+ and individual contract values of £5m+ per annum along with experience using procurement related systems (eg Oracle, Emptoris) you will have confidence to challenge the norm and think creatively. Tactful and diplomatic you must have the ability to interact effectively at all levels of SSE and with Vendors, both individually and leading or part of a team. With very strong communication and negotiation skills, you should demonstrate the ability to influence and motivate others. Contractually and Commercially minded you must be able manage contracts to ensure they are delivered on time in line with KPI’s and SLA’ and know how to come out of the process with a good outcome for everyone.
