Base Location: Glasgow

Salary: £38,600 – £58,000 plus bonus

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time, 37 hours per week | Flexible working patterns available

About the Department

Our SSE Finance function has a key part to play in fulfilling SSE’s obligations as a UK-listed company, providing expertise and services that can be shared across the SSE Group, and working in partnership with all businesses to provide services tailored to their specific needs.  SSE operates in a highly regulated and increasingly competitive environment, and our role is to ensure that we gather, compile, analyse and recommend on the financial strategy for our businesses, identifying opportunities to drive efficiencies and create value for SSE now, and in the future.

What is the Role?

An opportunity to join the Renewables Commercial Finance team, specifically focusing on Capital Projects.

SSE Renewables is beginning construction on Seagreen and Doggerbank windfarms which total 4.7GW and over £10bn of capital expenditure, and are some of the largest offshore wind assets planned to be built in the world. In addition SSE Renewables has ambitious growth targets for offshore and onshore wind farm development in the UK, Ireland and internationally.

The role is to be the Commercial Finance Manager for Capital Projects which will oversee all the financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting of all this activity.

Reporting to directly to the Head of Commercial Finance this role will place the candidate in a high profile as  part of the Renewables business and include reporting and presentation to the Executive Committee and other key Senior management groups.

Experience of working independently and as a part of a team, experience of engaging with non -finance personnel in order to develop working relationships to assist in commercial understanding and delivery.

Understanding and analysis of different financing structures and using financial modelling skills to interpret, value and present findings.

Adhoc M&A support to commercial teams working with Corporate Finance, legal and commercial departments.

Dealing with joint venture partners on projects in order to provide reporting.

Effectively communicating financial performance to operational colleagues to embed financial understanding within the business and able to manage multiple complex projects/processes simultaneously.

What do I need?

  • Accounting qualification with PQE experience
  • Proficient in MS Office applications particularly excel
  • Analytical skills
  • Degree-level education or equivalent
  • Knowledge of SSE equivalent systems, processes and workflow technology
  • In depth knowledge of ERP software (Oracle desirable)
  • Experience working in client service
