Base Location: Perth, Glasgow or Reading
Salary: £32,700 – £49,100 depending on skills and experience + annual bonus
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time with Flexible working patterns available
About the Department
Our in-house SSE Legal function operates across the SSE Group to ensure business actions and behaviours are aligned to business priorities, are legally sound, and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, responsibility and ethical behaviour. We identify and rationalise legal risk, providing advice on both regulatory and statutory obligations, all whilst helping the business to achieve their strategic goals.
What is the Role
The purpose of the role is to assist their team in achieving their goals and objectives by providing high quality, pragmatic legal advice and services to the best of their ability pursuant to the key accountabilities utilising their required business knowledge, skills and expertise.
Advising on contentious construction and commercial disputes and have a work load that consists predominantly of medium to high risk / priority work. Showing progression towards building a higher priority / more complex workload.
Becoming a first point of contact for Clients and building up a reputation for prompt and thorough responses and a high-level service. Works to increases their exposure to key stakeholders within their business unit and at an SSE Group level.
What do I need?
The essential skills and experience you will bring to this role:
– Qualified lawyer with circa 0-3 years PQE;
– An understanding of the legal and commercial issues that are pertinent to the business.
– Experience in drafting and negotiating general commercial agreements;
– A passion to work as part of a high performing team, sharing knowledge, best practice and supporting colleagues;
– Proactive and pragmatic approach to giving legal advice and support in a clear and concise manner.
