Base Location: Portsmouth, Oxford, Reading, Melksham or Poole
Salary: £38,600 – £58,000 plus car/car allowance and bonus

About the Department
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
What is the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Connections Contract Manager) to join our Procurement and Commercial team, to develop and implement key procurement and commercial strategies across a range of connections projects in our Networks business.
You’ll be an enthusiastic individual who will focus on providing the necessary pre and post contract quantity surveying/commercial support on a range of one-off projects and programmes of work. You will be able to combine strong commercial acumen with well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving, communication and negotiation skills, and have experience delivering programmes of work and one-off projects. Reporting to the Procurement and Commercial Manager, you’ll support the Project Managers and Procurement Managers to deliver strategies and contracts by providing robust post contract commercial management to support the connections business goals and objectives.
The Contract Manager will also support the delivery of departmental KPIs and objectives such as savings in total cost of ownership, value engineering and safety performance.
What do I need?
You’ll be able to analyse and interpret numerical data and have highly developed contract drafting and writing skills, from experience gained through interpreting construction contracts. Excellent IT skills are essential including knowledge of all MS Office applications, knowledge of Emptoris and Oracle purchase systems would be beneficial.
You’ll also have a good working knowledge of NEC conditions of contract, along with experience in estimating, cost and budget management, contract administration and payment and expenditure management. We would also be keen to hear from candidates from a Utilities or Civil background.
Finally, a degree in Quantity Surveying is required for this position, while MRICS professional qualifications are desirable.
