    The FA’s vision is to win the World Cup in 2023 and grow a sustainable system that delivers success for future Lionesses. It is an exciting time to be involved in a critical period of Women’s football off the back of the recent World Cup and with the  upcoming Olympics and home soil European campaigns.

    The Game Plan for Growth sets out an ambitious agenda including the professionalisation of the Women’s League structure in England.  Developing clubs with the professional infrastructure to identify, attract and importantly develop women’s footballers is a key component for the overall development of players within the system.

    We are looking to recruit a World Class Physical Preparation Coach who can work with England Teams and Club Sports Science and Medicine Staff to collaboratively develop individualised physical performance programmes for potential Lionesses from across the upper phase age grades who are on International Develop Programmes.  The successful post holder will also work with and through TASS to both develop a strategy to deliver S&C services whilst also monitoring uptake and standards of physical preparation delivered through the TASS performance network.

    Role Description
    • To lead and deliver appropriate physical performance & nutrition service to the England Women’s Player Development Pathway which supports the coaching process, talent identification & provides performance advantages through optimal physical preparation of players and teams.
    • To drive standards of PPN provision across Women’s Super League; Academy and Women’s Championships whilst providing strategic clarity to the FA’s external parties (TASS) on the requirements of S&C delivery through its network.
    • To work closely between Club and England PPN staff to enhance and optimise England Player S&C provision
    • Delivery of world leading physical performance coaching when required to pathway staff and players
    Key Accountabilities
    • Assist in the development of an overall pathway strategy for physical performance & nutrition which encompasses best practice in all aspects of physical preparation as the key aim for development
    • Lead and monitor the operational delivery of physical performance support services to the Women’s development pathway including TASS, WSL Academies and support provision provided to Professional Phase Players
    • Develop standards of PPN delivered across TASS; WSL Academies; Women’s Championship and Women’s Super League working with relevant stakeholders and aligning with the FA Sports Science and Medicine Strategy
    • Support the delivery of the physical components of the England player profile within the domestic club setting
    • Support the delivery of key internal and external research projects which underpin future player development which are aligned to England’s PPC philosophy
    • Delivery of physical performance coaching and planning to the Women’s pathway players and teams as required
    • Close working relationships with Women’s national physical performance coaches and club staff to ensure alignment between club and international requirements as identified in player IDP’s
    • Close working relationships with peers in the pathway to enable knowledge of and management of pathway players
    • Develop and maintain an extensive network of organisations and individuals outside football with whom to share and develop best practice
    • Work with TASS and if required, to support recruitment, development and retention of Physical Performance Coaches and related services for the women’s pathway
    What we are looking for


    • A qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in sports science or a related discipline
    • Relevant professional body accreditation (e.g. UKSCA ASCC, NSCA CSCS)
    • Extensive experience in delivering physical performance coaching in elite sport
    • Outstanding academic and applied knowledge contemporary practice in physical performance development
    • Strategic management and planning
    • Track record of successfully integrating into established and developing coaching teams
    • Excellent practical delivery


    • Master’s degree or higher in sports science or related discipline
    • BASES Accreditation
    • Experience in international sport
