The role

Due to our continued growth we are seeking a dynamic and visionary Project Manager, to join our Project Delivery team within the Transmission Business Planning Directorate. The successful candidate will own and drive strategic programmes, working closely with subject matter experts to coordinate our input into strategic energy planning, providing senior management with clear visibility of progress against key metrics. We are looking for an innovative thinker who can identify opportunities to create or improve business processes. The Project Manager will interact with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including other network owners/operators. This position is pivotal in driving a coordinated approach across multiple areas of reform, ensuring our thought leadership resonates powerfully across industry forums and projects, leading to tangible outcomes.

This position will predominantly be office based with some flexibility for hybrid working.

You will

– Work closely with key stakeholders and Project Sponsors to ensure the development, buy in, and approval of Project scope, governance, workplans and supporting project documentation.

– Build and manage the project teams required to deliver on outputs, ensuring input from key areas across the business including System Planning, Project Development, Environmental & Consenting, Engineering, Stakeholder, Operations.

– Use your strong communication skills to build and maintain productive and enduring relationships with key stakeholders and local communities to promote and gain buy in for deliverables.

– Provide leadership in the promotion of the ASPs and Connections reform activities; including interface with the Future System Operator to ensure timely approval of plans by Ofgem.

– Identify business improvements and where required support colleagues and the business to develop, test, implement and verify business improvements. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and internal regulations, processes and governance.

You have

– A proven track record of leading and safely delivering complex business projects or programmes of work across large multi-functional teams in a matrix reporting environment.

– Knowledge and experience of the wider energy industry and policy would be advantageous.

– Strong commercial acumen with well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving, communication and negotiation skills, allowing you to forge and maintain effective working relationships at all levels internal and external.

– A formal Project Management qualification, such as Prince2 or APM PMQ is desirable.

– Knowledge of Lean practices with a passion for improving ways of working.
