Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based near one of our key sites in the South of England, which includes but is not limited to: Reading, Thatcham, Portsmouth, Melksham, New Forest, and London.

Salary: £42600- £64000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: 18-month Fixed Term Contract OR Secondment | Full Time

The role

Reporting to the Contract Manager or Senior Contracts Manager within Procurement & Commercial for SEPD Customer Operations, you will be providing end to end procurement and commercial support for the delivery of numerous projects relating to Customer Operations and Large Connections across multiple sites in the south of England. This role provides an excellent opportunity for long term career development in an exciting growth area.

You’ll be an enthusiastic, delivery focused individual with strong commercial acumen and some technical understanding of construction principles, including well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, negotiation skills gained from working as a Contracts Manager or Quantity Surveyor. An experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to step up into a Quantity Surveyor role may also be considered.

You will

  • Provide end to end Procurement and Contract Management support services to each allocated project.
  • Deliver timely budgeting, cost reporting and assessing change management to ensure project programme dates are achieved.
  • Review Applications for Payments, preparing Payment Notices and Final Accounts.
  • Estimate and cost forecast as each project matures.
  • Deliver both Pre and post contract support services.

You have

  • A good working knowledge of UK construction contracts. Experience of working with the NEC ECC forms of contract or similar is essential alongside the ability to research, gather and present information both verbally and written on contracts.
  • Experience in bottom-up costing, cost and budget management, pre and post contract administration, contract negotiation, claims and commercial programme and risk management.
  • Good understanding in the preparation and drafting of construction and/or engineering contracts.
  • Excellent IT skills including knowledge of all MS Office applications. (Experience in the use of ERP systems would be beneficial).
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred however, candidates with other relevant related degrees with appropriate experience will be considered. MRICS or MCIPS professional qualifications are desirable however other relevant qualifications will be considered or those working towards their degrees or qualifications.
