About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland, however, our preference is that you will be based from one of our key Scotland sites such as Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness. This role will require you to be onsite at (Kintore) Aberdeen, five days per week.

Salary: £40,600 – £61,000 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Site Construction Manager (Electrical), experienced in the principles of construction and commissioning of major transmission substations. This role will be based at Kintore, near Aberdeen in Scotland, where we are constructing a new world leading 400kV GIS G^3 substation and Major assets replacement of the 132kV substation. The project is part of SSEN Transmissions and is a key to our plans to deliver a Network for Net Zero.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

– Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site and be the key and potentially sole site-based point of contact. Key deliverables include earthworks, civils construction, building construction, air-insulated switchgear installation, transformer installation, earthing, building supplies, gas-insulated switchgear and busbar installation and commissioning activities.

– Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, health and safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, quality & technical compliance, personnel and industrial relations.

– Work closely with the appointed contractor(s) and the operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

– Ensure site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation, and routine reports and KPIs are submitted to the Project Manager.

– Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers and the community, acting as a leader on site and champion for a positive safety culture.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

– A strong knowledge of NGET standards, electrical plant installation and testing, cabling and wiring standards and IEE regulations.

– Experience in site management of similarly complex works in construction or utilities.

– A strong engineering and construction knowledge including safety and CDM regulations.

– HND qualified in engineering or construction management (or equivalent) and must hold SMSTS 5-day site management qualification or equivalent.

– Understanding of NEC forms of contracts including previous experience fulfilling the role of NEC Supervisor.

The role requires a full current driving licence due to the requirement to travel to and be on site.
