About the Role

Base Location: Perth or Glasgow with the flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week

Salary: £38,600 – £58,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: 18 Month Fixed Term Contract or Secondment | Full Time | Flexible First options available

As Treasury Accountant you will be responsible for all the accounting requirements of the Treasury function which includes its responsibilities to the SSE Group but also to a number of Joint Ventures for which SSE provide Treasury services. This is an exciting and varied role which presents the opportunity to work with a range of stakeholders through all levels of the organisation.

Main Responsibilities:

– Accurate and timely execution of the monthly Treasury accounting, period end closing, budget, forecast and five-year model updates, adherence to accounting policies, half and full year reporting and the delivery of monthly reporting information for inclusion in the Board report and for use by the wider Finance function.

– Providing accounting treatment advice and recommendations for any funding exercise or derivative transaction that the Group may be considering ensuring the accounting treatment is efficient and adheres to accounting policies.

– Liaise with Business Partners and Finance Managers on a regular basis to provide updates and advice on a number of accounting matters relating to Treasury activities. You will also interact with various areas of the business to understand the impact of material transactions that will impact Treasury and the wider business.

– Work closely with Group Finance and Investor Relations on external reporting requirements including preparing various account notes and words for inclusion in the annual report, there is also a requirement to communicate with external banks, external auditors and other external counterparties.

– Provide accounting support for specific project related Treasury activities. This will often require presenting to the tax and Treasury Committee, Finance Director and other senior management and directors.

What do I need?

– Fully qualified accountant with Post Qualified Experience in an operational finance role with exposure to issues of similar complexity.

– Excellent knowledge of current regulations including IFRS / new UK GAAP, Hedge Accounting, Companies Acts, Regulatory Licences etc.

– Good knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures.

– Adaptive to changing objectives and priorities to deliver timely and accurate results.

– Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to senior Managers throughout the SSE Group.
