What is the Role?

Dogger Bank is a major offshore windfarm development, comprising three 1,200MW projects, each with a capital cost of c.£3bn. It is the largest development project in the SSE Renewables portfolio and is a key, high value project for both SSE Renewables and its co-shareholder, Equinor.

As each project progresses towards Financial Close the Value Improvement Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing and evaluating potential value improvements across all packages of work at all stages of the project through to operations.

As this person will work across all stages and packages within the project there is a real opportunity to share best practice and drive value improvements across several areas of the project. Although this person will work with the Directors and Package Managers it will be their responsibility to ensure the VI work is driven through and delivered. These value improvements could reach up to multi-million-pound value.

In addition, as each project moves into the construction phase the Value Improvement Manager will be responsible for producing decision-enabling analysis to support the project’s senior leadership team in assessing ongoing value improvements and commercial optimisation during the construction phase, in order to continue to seek to improve on the project’s business case.

The project team will comprise c.100 professionals by the time of Financial Close, rising to a peak of c.140 during the construction phase, working principally out of the SSE project offices in Glasgow.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, you should have demonstrable experience of production of financial/commercial analysis and the creation of reports or presentations for senior decision-makers. You will have previous experience of presenting options and recommendations to project leadership and senior stakeholders and have a thorough understanding of drivers of the renewables market to understand when and where to challenge around Vis. You should have experience in multibillion-pound projects within heavy industry.

You should have in-depth knowledge of Project management systems and governance arrangements for large projects combined with a strong understanding of offshore wind farm value drivers.

Extensive experience in commercial and/or financial roles related to major project development, ideally covering a range of technologies, project structures and financing approaches.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills with an analytical approach and strong problem skills. You will be an organised individual who is accustomed to working to tight deadlines.

Advanced Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills are essential.
