About the role

Base Location: Dundee / Perth / Inverness / Aberdeen

Salary: £46,626 – £68,098 + car / car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

As a Transmission Operations Engineer (Auxiliary Systems) your key responsibilities will be:

– Reporting directly to the Substation Maintenance Manager, planning, scheduling, resourcing and overseeing delivery of the safe, effective & efficient work activities on our substation auxiliary systems and assets, such as battery systems, building heating and lighting installations, ventilation systems, standby diesel generators and EV chargers etc.

– Managing auxiliary system outages, setting internal and contractor staff to work on several different asset types, coordinating work in live high voltage environments alongside the rest of the Substation Maintenance team.

– Representing Operations interests and assisting in capital project delivery, ensuring safe and effective delivery of new assets and auxiliary systems.

– Ensuring all activities will be carried out to in accordance with internal policies and procedures, this will also require understanding of our statutory requirements and the ability to interpret and action manufacturer instruction. Furthermore, you will lead continuous improvement of these policies and procedures and development of new as new asset types are introduced to our network.

– Safety is the key priority at SSEN Transmission, you should be a strong leader who sets and maintains high standards, promotes a safe working environment and culture throughout the team, and be comfortable in challenging any unsafe behaviours or attitudes, you will engage with them positively about safety.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

– A minimum HNC or foundation degree level or working towards this or equivalent experience.

– Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficient in work management software and Microsoft Office.

– Knowledge of transmission substation auxiliary systems, or from equivalent industries.

– Understanding of health and safety legislation, including a working knowledge of CDM Regulations.

– You must be adaptable, self-motivated and flexible enough to work away from base location and a full driver’s licence is required.
